Background
AustLiterature.net (ALN) is an experiment in leveraging social media within an educational and disciplinary context, currently in its beta stage of development. As a not-for-profit space to collate news and views exploring themes, concepts, political and theoretical approaches underpinning the contemporary study and reading of Australian literature, AustLiterature.net (ALN) is an online literary networking community for lovers of Australian Literature. Primarily (and in no particularly order), it exists for researchers, writers, publishers, readers, reviewers, scholars, booksellers and students of Australian Literature. Not affiliated with any key disciplinary stakeholders, institutions or retailers, ALN is an attempt to drive awareness of Australian Literature from the ground up, by creating networking opportunities between people interested in various aspects of Australian publishing, writing and reading, and by growing a community around the Twitter identity. Be sure to read all our "Background" pages (links in middle column of this page) for more information or if you have any questions, please drop a note to the Twitter account @AustLiterature.

Kathryn Koromilas wrote a new blog post: Why I Write What I Write 1 month ago
It is not that I ‘write what I know,’ but that I write what I need to know. It is not that I write what I have seen, but what I need to see. I write, not what I have learnt, but what I need to learn. I write, not what I have understood, but [...]

RyanASpan: Welcome everyone to our very first Twitterview with @AlanBaxter. Alan, what was the first time you knew you wanted to be a writer?

RyanASpan: Ha, I see. What drew you to [...]

Alan Baxter being interviewed on Twitter on Tuesday, 19 January 2010, by Ryan Span. It’s an interactive sorta thing, so people can come along and ask Alan questions along with Ryan and he’ll try to keep up. It’s a bit experimental. If you’re interested it’ll be on at 11pm GMT on [...]

Moderator wrote a new blog post: Tweet an Aussie Author 7 months, 1 week ago
From @brascoebooks: “The thing we love about Twitter is that it’s networking at it’s finest: sharing ideas and notions, meeting new people, and coming up with new and collaborative ideas. That’s why we’re so excited to be in on the ground with @AustLiterature and @odysseybooks for the very first instances of ‘tweet an Australian author’ [...]

Kevin Price wrote a new blog post: The Second Comment 7 months, 3 weeks ago
In response to other writers’ comments on Dee White’s blog, this was my second lengthy comment.
I’m not sure it’s all that hard for an author to stand his or her ground on matters of content alterations. It may be, I haven’t had the luxury of being in that position, dare I say, yet. I can [...] -
Kevin Price wrote a new blog post: The Missing PC Stuff 7 months, 3 weeks ago
This was originally written as a comment on Dee White’s blog about the PIR kerfuffle.
It seems to me that this whole argument lacks some basics.
I listened to Don Grosvner on The Book Show (Radio National) along with Mike Woods (the Commissioner) and also to Lousie Adler being steamrolled by Bob Carr on Late Night Live. [...]
